Step 1: Look at the Cover

Look	Describe the people on the front cover: age, size, clothes.
Research	Look at the title. Where do bears live?
Personalise	Have you ever seen a bear? Where? Describe the bear.
Check	Look up the meaning and pronunciation for the following words (nouns): grass, river, mud, forest, snow storm and cave.
Check	Look up the meaning and pronunciation for the following words (prepositions): over, under and through.
Predict	Do you think the people are going to find a bear?
Personalise	How would you feel and what would you do if you met a bear?

Step 2 + Step 3: Listen and Watch

Step 2/3 of 5

Part A	Listen and watch for general understanding and enjoyment.
Part B	Listen and watch again and answer the questions, pause and replay when you need to.
	Listen to and watch Michael Rosen tell the story. Join in and copy the actions.
	Write or say the five things the people on the cover go through.
	What do the people find in the cave? What do they decide to do?
	Join in the story and copy the actions.
	What do the people forget to do when they get home?
	What do the people decide not to do again?
